Fire-cooking at Drovers Rest — it’s part of who we are and our where we are …
We’re South African, where cooking over open fires is a way of life: a place to gather, keep warm, tell stories and to slow down. We invite you to join us on our farm, that has been nurtured back to life with much love, and we have come full circle…as a long time before our 16th century Farm became Drovers Rest, this land was a place to gather ..for Drovers who travelled these hills with cattle, sheep and geese, meeting, trading, resting and cooking over fires before continuing on their long journey to the London markets. What we do today is a continuation of that history: fire at the centre, people around it, food cooked slowly and shared generously.

Our events calendar changes with the seasons. Some feasts return each year. Others happen once and never again. We have limited tickets. This is intentional as we believe smaller is better

Seasonal food cooked over embers, grills, spits, planks, 3 legged slow cooking iron pots served sharing-style on platters at long tables with the fire doing what it does best. 3 set courses. No rushing. Just smoke, flame, generosity and time to linger.

We have a fully stocked bar for you with locally sourced drinks and the all important Cocktails. Our farm inspired cocktails are lush and we have an in-house mixologist to custom make cocktails for your big event. Be sure to try our
