Black Sheep Wedding Fayre
The Black Sheep Wedding Fayre
For the rule-breakers, misfits & lovers of doing things differently
Not beige.
Not boring.
Not “we’ve seen this a thousand times before”.
Welcome to The Black Sheep Wedding Fayre at Drovers Rest — a wedding fayre for couples who don’t fit the mould and have zero interest in trying.
This is a place for the wild hearts, the awkward romantics, the queer couples, the second-timers, the elopers, the mud-on-boots dreamers and the “we’re doing it our way” crowd.
If traditional wedding fairs make you want to fake a phone call and leave early — you’re in the right place.
What makes this different?
Forget rows of white tablecloths and awkward sales pitches.
This fayre is:
-
Curated, not crowded — hand-picked suppliers we genuinely rate
-
Inclusive & welcoming — all love, all stories, all identities
-
Relaxed & real — no pressure, no hard sell, no pretending
-
Creative & alternative — for weddings that actually feel like you
Think good music, proper conversations, real inspiration — and probably a drink in hand.
Who it’s for?
This fayre is for couples who:
-
Don’t want a cookie-cutter wedding
-
Care more about meaning than matching chair covers
-
Want personality, not perfection
-
Love good food, great stories and places with soul
-
Are planning a wedding that feels authentic, human and unapologetically theirs
If you’ve ever said “We’re not really traditional…” — congratulations, you qualify.
Meet your people
You’ll meet a small but mighty group of:
-
Independent, creative wedding suppliers
-
Artists, makers, storytellers & problem-solvers
-
Humans who care about ethics, inclusivity & doing things properly
Photographers who don’t shout “say cheese”, florists who embrace the wild, celebrants who tell your story, caterers who care about flavour, and stylists who aren’t afraid of colour, texture and personality.
No corporate nonsense. No conveyor-belt weddings.
Why Drovers Rest?
Drovers Rest isn’t a blank canvas — it’s a place with history, grit and heart.
A working farm turned rebellious wedding venue, built slowly, ethically and intentionally over 15 years. Fires, stone, fields, stories and space to breathe.
It’s not for everyone.
But then again… neither are you
What to Expect on the Day?
-
A relaxed, welcoming atmosphere
-
Time to actually talk to suppliers
-
Music, drinks and fire-cooked flavour
-
Honest conversations about weddings (the good, the messy, the meaningful)
-
Zero judgement. Zero pressure.
Come as you are. Stay as long as you like.
